Boys basketball: Leopards fight off Elbert County to stay atop 8-AA standings

ELBERTON — Kahmal Wiley and Dylan Orr each recorded double-doubles Tuesday night to lead the Class AA No. 7 Banks County boys to 48-43 victory over Elbert County on the road.

Wiley poured in 16 point nd grabbed 14 rebounds to go with a pair blocks while Orr had 11 points and 11 rebounds nd three blocks for the Leopards.

Banks County (16-4, 8-0 in Region 8-AA) now leads Putnam County 1 1/2 games. The Leopards will travel to Rabun County on Friday and then play host to Putnam County next Tuesday with a chance to put a stranglehold on the top seed in the upcoming region tournament.

Carl Cleveland chipped in 11 points and Darious Bonds added six assists for Banks County Tuesday night.
