HARTWELL — Stephens County got defensive Friday night against rival Hart County.
The Indians got a pair of defensive touchdowns and also a special teams touchdown to propel them to a 23-6 win over the Bulldogs on the road.
However, it was Hart County (0-5) that scored first on the second play of game. But the Bulldogs could not get much else going on offense.
Cole Beitzel got a fumble recovery for a touchdown and Malik Feaster added a pick-6 for the Jackets.
Brandon Wheeler then returned a punt back for a touchdown for Stephens County (4-1) which also has now won three straight.
The Indians will open Region 8-AAAA play next week against St. Pius, which is 0-5
