The longtime manager of Common Grounds Restaurant in Flowery Branch passed away on Monday, September 19, and all week fellow business owners in downtown Flowery Branch have paid tribute to Gene Burch in a unique way,
"In support of Gene, his family and Main Street family we are proudly flying our Hawaiian shirts, Gene's shirt of choice," read a statement from city officials.
According to an obituary announcement, Burch, 68, was the manager of Common Grounds for 14 years.
The statement said Burch was known as "the Coffee King" because he supplied city officials with "our morning jolt of caffeine."
