ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The University of North Georgia men's golf team couldn't seem to settle into a groove on the final day of the Jay Jennison Cup at Slammer and Squire in St. Augustine, posting a 306 on the day to finish the tournament with a score of 898, 34 strokes over par. Junior Matt Elloitt held on to a top ten finish at 71-69-73-213, -3 after the 54-hole event.
Logan Archer finished the tournament on a good note, posting his best score of the week with a 70 today, finishing the event at 72-73-70-215, one shot under par.
Belmont Abbey's Nick Stafford set a new 54-hole record for the tournament, in its eighth year, at 68-69-70-207, nine strokes under par, finishing two shots ahead of Ethan Chamineak from Georgia Southwestern. West Florida took home the team title with an impressive -10 performance, eight strokes better than second-place Barry.
The Nighthawks will get a week off before hosting the third annual UNG Fall Invitational at Achasta Golf Club on Oct. 3 and 4 in Dahlonega. More information on the Fall Invite can be found on the tournament website.
