It's not unusual for animals to be struck and killed on North Georgia roadways, but it is rare when the animal is a bear - and even more rare for it to happen on a busy highway.
Forsyth County Sheriff's Office officials confirmed a bear cub was struck and killed by a car on Georgia 400 in the north end of the county Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies said the mother bear and another cub were nearby.
The vehicle involved in the crash was damaged, but the driver and passenger in the car were not injured, according to deputies.
The accident happened in the northbound lanes of the highway near Bottoms Road around 1 p.m.
