CLEVELAND — The Truett McConnell women's soccer team opened its home schedule Tuesday afternoon with a resounding 8-0 win over Brewton-Parker. With the win, the Bears improve to 2-3 on the season.
TMU got on the board in the 17th minute with a goal by Ashley York. Ten minutes later, Susanna Peppers scored her first of two goals on the day to make the score 2-0 going into halftime.
The floodgates opened in the second half as the Bears scored four goals in 18 minutes of action. Meredith Mellard scored in the 49th, Jasmin Lanuza scored in the 55th and 60th and Peppers scored in the 67th. Mellard scored her second goal of the day in the 76th minute and Lauren Huston joined the scoring in the 78th minute.
The Bears outshot the Barons 43-3 and 27-0 in shots on goal.
TMU will be back in action at Toccoa Falls on Saturday, September 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
