The USA South Athletic Conference has released the second Player of the Week listing for the fall with a pair of Lion newcomers earning athlete of the week honors. Men's cross country freshman Nathan Galloway took Runner and Rookie of the Week while Men's Soccer freshman Mitch Barry earned Defensive Player of the Week.

Galloway becomes the third men's cross country athlete in the past two years to take Runner and Rookie of the Week in the same week as the newcomer set the Piedmont College freshman 8k record running a 27:48 at the Furman XC Classic. The time marks the second fastest 8k time in school history as the freshman from Jefferson, Georgia stole the show Saturday shaving 1:44 off his first 8k time in the season opener.

Barry has started three contests for Piedmont including a pair last week as he posted a 1-0-1 record allowing just a single goal. The freshman from Snellville, Georgia has allowed only two goals this season posting a 0.62 goals against average stopping a total of eight shots over the Lions' pair of games last week.

The USA South Athletic Conference announces its weekly honor roll each Monday and at least half of the teams in a sport must have competed within the previous week for honors to be awarded.
