Elliott opens Full Moon Invitational with new UNG record

CALERA, Ala. — Just one week after fellow newcomer Logan Archer set a new mark for the lowest round in school history, Matt Elliott etched his named in the record books with an opening round 66 in the first day of action at the Montevallo Full Moon Invitational, helping the University of North Georgia men's golf team post a 290 on the day, good enough for first place after the opening 18 holes.

Elliott was five under par for the day at Timberline, just one shot off the lead. Arhcer, continued his strong start to the 2016-17 year with a 72 (+1), tied for 16th after the first round.

The Nighthawks trail Lee University by 14 strokes, who paced the field with an impressive 276, eight shots under par, to open the tournament. UNG is just two strokes back of host, Montevallo. The nine team field will wrap up play with 36 holes tomorrow.
