BLUE RIDGE — They may have to resod Rebel Stadium after Friday night’s fireworks between Chestatee and Fannin County.

The two teams combined for over 1,000 yards of offense but in the end it the War Eagles’ Nick Lyles and Storm Yarbrough were just too much as Chestatee escaped with a 47-30 win on the road.

Lyles ran for 238 yards and five touchdowns while Yarbrough threw for 306 yards and one touchdown.

The Rebels’ Brad Davis was just as unstoppable passing for 349 yards and two touchdowns and Cooper Earls (10 rec. 186 yards, 2 TDs) and Jacob Reece (4 rec. 100 yards) had big games as well.

Lyles scored on runs of 55, 6, 36, 75, and 2-yards and Yarbrough connected on a 37-yard scoring pass to Jacob Goodall.

Chestatee (2-2) used a 33-6 spurt in the second and third quarters to erase a 10-7 Fannin County (1-2) lead after the first quarter. The Rebels outscored Chestatee 14-7 in a wild fourth quarter that saw them drop a sure touchdown catch but also recover an onside kick.

The two teams also combined for more turnovers (7) than punts (6) in the game.

Chestatee will travel to take on Lumpkin County next week. Fannin County will travel to Andrews (N.C.) next week.

Chestatee's Nick Lyles (4) runs through a host of Fannin County defenders in the Wra Eagles' 47-30 win Friday night in Blue Ridge.
