A Talmo woman died of her injuries Thursday when a car she was trying to push off the roadway rolled back over her.
Julene M. Nix, 64, of Talmo was headed north on U.S. 129/Ga. 11 around noon when the 1998 Mercury Tracer she was traveling in lost power, according to Cpl. C.E. Parker with the Georgia State Patrol Athens Post.
The driver, Tracy Cooper, 51, of Bethlehem, attempted to get the car off the road, onto Sosebee Road in Talmo, but could not get it completely out of the travel lanes on Highway 129.
That's when Nix exited the vehicle and attempted to push it the rest of the way, but when Cooper put the car in neutral, it rolled backwards, rolling over Nix.
Nix was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time, but Parker said in an email update that the investigation is ongoing.
