Posted 8:00AM on Monday 29th August 2016 ( 8 years ago )

The Splash Park at Sugar Hill is slated to open Thursday, officials said.

The public is invited to the grand opening celebration at 6 p.m.; it will include food trucks and music, according to a press release.

The Splash Park is a 60-foot diameter area with 42 "arch spray" nozzles and 28 vertical spray nozzles, accompanied by 93 color-changing LED lights.

The fountains and lights can be programmed for choreographed sequencing; fountain shows are expected in the future.

“The Splash Park in Sugar Hill is a great addition to creating another destination item in our downtown," said Mayor Steve Edwards.

The park is located adjacent to the new Dawn P. Gober Family Plaza, which backs up to The Bowl in the city's downtown area, near city hall.

The Splash Park will be open seven days a week between April and October each year.
