Suspect allegedly ran over Statham Police officer during traffic stop

Posted 6:34AM on Sunday 28th August 2016 ( 8 years ago )

A female suspect is wanted for allegedly dragging and running over a Statham Police officer with her car during a traffic stop Saturday.

Jessica Fox, described as a white female in a news release published on the agency's Facebook page, was stopped by Officer Marc Lofton shortly after 5 p.m. on Dooley Town Road.

As Lofton attempted to arrest her, Fox "physically resisted and during the altercation placed her car in drive and attempted to drive off."

Lofton was dragged across the road while the two were entangled, with Fox eventually running over both of Lofton's legs with the back left tire of her 2010 Pontiac G6.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police.

Lofton was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and officials said they expect an update on his condition later on Sunday.

In Nov. 2015, a Statham officer — also identified as Marc Lofton — was injured by a DUI suspect, who fractured the officer's arm.
