A couple of development items tabled at last month's Hall County Commission meeting are back up for discussion this week - one is the rezoning request for the 508-acre Atlanta River Walk project in Braselton and the other is rezoning for a tract of land on Browns Bridge Road for the expansion of Mincey Marble.

Both matters were tabled at the commission's July 14 meeting and both are on Monday afternoon's work session agenda. Public comment on the rezonings will not be taken until the voting session on Thursday, August 25 at 6 p.m.

The rezoning request for Atlanta River Walk was tabled because of concern expressed by some commissioners on the development's proximity to Road Atlanta. Commissioners suggested a noise nuisance warning be included for potential buyers of property in the large multi-use development. The project engineer said such a warning would scare away investors, so he wanted to talk with developers before making a commitment to placing the language in any documents.

Also on the agenda, rezoning of an 11+-acre tract of land on the north side of Brown's Bridge Road for an expansion of Mincey Marble. Many neighbors in the area are opposed because of noise and traffic concerns. Company officials held a meeting last month to see if they could ease some concerns. An estimated 90 people appeared at the July 14 meeting to voice opinions on the company's plans to expand to the other side of Browns Bridge Road.
