Things are likely to be a bit congested around Brenau University Wednesday as students prepare for the fall semester. That's move-in day, and students, some accompanied by their parents, will be lining up to get settled in sorority houses and residence halls.

Brenau is opening a new residence hall on Prior Street this fall. As of late last week, it was scheduled to house 68 students, all of them upperclasswomen.

Also new this year is the Anhui Normal University 2+2 early childhood education program, which will include 18 Chinese students. Brenau is home to the Georgia phase of a long-term agreement with the Chinese university to provide the last two years of undergraduate studies in early childhood education to Anhui students. (Click here for more on the program and the agreement between the two schools.)

The first group of these students arrived at Brenau Friday.

To say the group has some adjusting to do probably is a bit of an understatement. However, according to a Brenau press release, after flying in from the other side of the world, the first thing they wanted to do was what any other college student wants to do: eat. After some quick greetings with Brenau faculty and staff at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, the seven students grabbed their baggage and piled onto a Brenau Golden Tigers team bus for a quick trip to an Atlanta institution - The Dwarf House in nearby Hapeville, the first establishment in the highly successful Chik-fil-A chain of restaurants.

The fall semester begins August 29 for these and other Brenau students.
