LAWRENCEVILLE — Coming into the 2016 it was already understood that Jefferson football featured a strong rushing attack and defense.
And Friday's season-opening 48-0 win over Discovery in Lawrenceville proved that once again.
Led by junior running back Colby Wood's 191 total yards, the Dragons (1-0) steamrolled the host Titans.
Wood finished with 125 yards on 14 carries and added three receptions for 66 yards -- not to mention a 57-yard punt return. He scored on runs of 41 and 34 yards, as well as catching an 8-yard TD pass from quarterback Bryce Moore, who completed 7 of 16 passes for 129 yards on the night.
Zack Boobas also added a 21-yard touchdown run, while Hayden Kilgore booted field goals of 25 and 28 yards. Cade McNally also added a 3-yard touchdown run for the Dragons.
Jefferson will play host to Riverwood next Friday.
