Three Georgians, including two from North Georgia, have been named to GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's new Agricultural Advisory Committee.
A press release says the 65 men and women on the committee will provide pioneering new ideas to strengthen the nation’s agricultural industry as well as provide support to rural communities. The release further states Trump understands the critical role America's agricultural community plays in feeding not only our country, but also the world.
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black of Commerce and State Senator John Wilkinson of Toccoa, the Chairman of the Georgia Senate Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee, have agreed to serve on the Trump panel. Former Governor Sonny Perdue is the other Georgian who will serve.
“The members of my agricultural advisory committee represent the best that America can offer to help serve agricultural communities. Many of these officials have been elected by their communities to solve the issues that impact our rural areas every day. I’m very proud to stand with these men and women, and look forward to serving those who serve all Americans from the White House," Trump said in the statement.
The executive board members will convene on a regular basis.
