First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville will hold its fourth annual Local Mission Expo Aug. 20.
The church is pledging16,500 hours of service to local charities, and 28 local charities are expected to exhibit.
Breakfast will be served at 8:00 and the expo will dismiss at 10:30 to allow church volunteers to work at various agency projects. Work includes painting a house, yard and landscape work, cleaning, serving cookies to local law enforcement officers and more.
On Sunday, Aug. 21, church members will be asked once again to pledge hours of work during the coming year at the different agencies. At last year’s expo, members of the church had worked 15,000 hours, and the goal for 2015-2016 was set at 16,500 hours. The number of hours actually worked will be announced at this year’s expo, and a new goal will be set for the coming year.
