Joe's Place delays opening following morning fire across street

Posted 9:34AM on Tuesday 9th August 2016 ( 8 years ago )
A Gainesville-area homeless ministry was forced to delay its opening by an hour Tuesday morning due to a fire across the street.

Joe's Place at Riverbend Baptist Church is on U.S. 129 or Cleveland Highway.  It's situated across the street from Millie's Drapery and Decorating, the location of an early morning fire that forced the closure of Cleveland Highway for several hours.

"We'll be ready to serve by 10 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning," volunteer Dawn Parks said in an email.

Joe's Place is typically open from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Tuesdays.
