Five people were jailed after a weekend fight and stabbing in the Gillsville area.
The incident was reported just after 7 p.m. Saturday, said Banks County Sheriff's Lt. Carissa McFaddin.
Deputies responded a report of a physical altercation involving a stabbing that had occurred on Queen Road, McFaddin said. The stabbing victim was reported to be at Gillsville Baptist Church awaiting the arrival of EMS and law enforcement.
"Prior to deputies arriving, Banks County EMS transported the victim to Northeast Georgia Medical due to the extent of injuries," McFaddin said.
"Further investigation into the incident revealed that an initial argument had occurred between a female victim and Adam Cecil Workman, 30, of 433 Queen Road," McFaddin said. "A male victim then intervened and a physical altercation ensued. It was reported that three additional males aided Workman by holding the male victim down while Workman stabbed the victim in the calf and upper thigh."
McFaddin said male accomplices to this altercation have been identified as Cecil Edward Workman, 58, of 359 Queen Road; Ricky Joe Croy, 50, of 359 Queen Road; and Billy Michael Long, 35, of 363 Queen Road.
"The female victim sustained minor injuries when Marie Charlotte Croy, 55, of 359 Queen Road, threw a heavy object at her during the altercation," McFaddin said.
All five of those involved were arrested late that Saturday night after arrest warrants were obtained.
Those arrested included:
• Adam Cecil Workman -- Aggravated assault;
• Cecil Edward Workman -- False imprisonment, simply battery;
• Ricky Joe Croy -- False imprisonment, simple battery;
• Billy Michael Long- False imprisonment, simple battery, abandonment of dependent child; and
• Marie Charlotte Croy -- Simple battery.
