Urn found in Lake Lanier; deputies search for owner

Posted 12:05PM on Monday 8th August 2016 ( 8 years ago )

Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for the rightful owner of an urn found by some swimmers in Lake Lanier.

The urn contains the cremains of an unknown individual, and it's unknown at this time whether the urn was purposefully put in the lake, or if it wound up there by accident.

Deputies are not releasing details of the urn's description in an effort to make sure it winds up in the correct hands, said Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez, sheriff's office spokesman, in a phone interview.

"We're asking people to either call us, private message us on Facebook or make contact with us somehow. And we'll ask some questions as far as the markings that may be on this urn," said Rodriguez.

The non-emergency phone number for the sheriff's office is (770) 781-3087.
