Officials from the City of Baldwin Water Department say some of the city's water customers in Banks County should boil their water.
A water main break in the 4800 block of Old Highway 441 resulted in a loss of required pressure, resulting in the advisory for Baldwin water customers in the Harmony Church Road and Old 441 area south of there.
Residents are urged to bring any water to be used for human consumption to a rolling boil to avoid any potential health hazard.
While the advisory is primarily for the customers in the area listed previously, all Baldwin water customers who have experienced water outages and/or low water pressure should boil all water prior to use for drinking, cooking or preparing baby food.
City officials say the water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.
Customers should continue to boil their water until they are notified by the Baldwin Water Department that the water system has been restored to full operation, and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption.
The City of Baldwin water department will post a notice when this boil water advisory has been lifted.
