Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one man dead in Flowery Branch late Saturday night.
Flowery Branch Police Chief David Spillers said police received a call to a suspicious person in the area of Chinook Court just before 10:00, but that more reports came in later saying a shooting had occurred.
When officers arrived, Spillers said they found an injured man on the property.
"They discovered Rico Bledson laying on his front porch with what was believed to initially be a stab wound and then later determined to be a gunshot wound," Spillers said.
The 39-year-old Bledson was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Flowery Branch officials are investigating the shooting and no information on potential suspects has been released.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has also been called to assist city officials in the investigation.
