Two men were arrested late this week after allegedly admitting their involvement in an armed robbery outside of a grocery store in Braselton.
Runako Devante Williams, of Doraville and Paul Thomas Hunt Jr. of Norcross, both face a count each of armed robbery for the incident in the parking lot of a Publix store on Ga 211.
Braselton Police Captain Michael Steffman said the pair, in a vehicle, approached a woman and her teenage grandson as they were loading groceries in to their car around 3:00 p.m. Thursday.
"The passenger got out, made contact with the grandson, and told the grandson, 'Hey, this guy wants to talk to you.' The driver had his gun out and at that point the grandson started lifting his hands up in the air," said Steffman. "The passenger told him the other male suspect not to put his hands up, just give them the wallet and the money. He gave them the wallet and the money and the two took off."
Steffman said neither the grandson or the woman were harmed, just shaken up. However, they did get the plate number of the vehicle.
"With that, we were able to get out to Doraville with Dekalb P.D. and to the residence. A short time later, they made contact with the owner of the vehicle, who was also the driver of the vehicle with the gun," Steffman said. On Thursday, the driver, Williams, admitted to being at the scene but minimized his involvement, Steffman said.
Steffman said Williams gave them information about the second subject, Hunt, who also admitted to being at the scene but minimized his involvement, Steffman said. Police arrested him at a Braselton restaurant around lunch time Friday.
