TAZEWELL, Tenn. - Scott Bloomquist led the entire distance of Saturday’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series finale at Tennessee’s Tazewell Speedway to capture his first-career series victory.
The win was worth $10,000 for the Mooresburg, Tennessee native.
Bloomquist also becomes the 35th different winner in all-time series history. In nine total events held this season, the tour saw eight different winners and seven first-time winners on the tour.
Bloomquist held off Australia driver Craig Vosbergen for the victory.
Devin Gilpin finished in third, claiming the Southern Nationals Series 2016 championship title in the process. The Columbus, Indiana race edged out Shanon Buckingham for the championship and the $5,053 top prize.
Vic Hill finished in fourth in the race, with Jeff Wolfenbarger in fifth.
Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh, Chad Ogle, Buckingham, Tommy Bailey and Robby Moses rounded out the top ten.
