Former GHS, Bama standout Sims signs with team from new league Down Under

Former Gainesville High and Alabama standout quarterback Blake Sims is doing his best trending-setting lately.

According to aussienational.com, Sims, who helped lead Alabama to the first-ever College Football Playoff, signed with the Wollongon Devils of the National Gridiron League in Australia to play footbal. 

The NGL is set to kick off its first season in October.

There was no mention of the terms of the contract but is considered a major signing for the fledling league.

As a senior in his only season of starting for the the Crimson Tide, Sims threw for an Alabama record 3,487 yards, rushed for 350 yards and scored 35 total touchdowns (28 passing, seven rushing).
