Baldwin Paving Company of Marietta will begin work July 18 replacing a 76-year-old bridge over Toccoa Creek in Stephens County. Baldwin was awarded the project with a bid of $2.3 million.

“The bridge will be closed for a period of 180 days while the bridge is replaced,” said Harold Mull, Construction Engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation.  “Once the bridge is opened there could be additional project associated lane closures during off peak hours to finish minor...work on the project.”

A detour will take traffic around the bridge during construction utilizing Highview Road, Old Rothell Road and Camp Mikell Road.  The anticipated project completion date is January 14, 2017.
