The Gainesville School System's Migrant Summer School has been in full swing as students participated in a variety of learning activities.  But it was not all "work" as they were also entertained by visitors from our community.

In each classroom, students were engaged in hands-on small group activities designed to enrich their listening, reading, and writing vocabulary. Math activities included the use of technology (Smart Board and computers).

In addition, Pete Garmon, known as Mr. Magic, performed several magic tricks; firefighters from Gainesville Fire Station #1 taught fire safety and demonstrated how they use their equipment, while providing a fire hat for each student; and Gail Hogan from the Hall County Library read books and encouraged students to continue reading throughout the summer.

Each day two meals were provided by lunchroom workers.
