An electrical and electronic products company plans to locate its new warehouse and distribution facility in Jackson County, a move state officials Friday said would create 100 new jobs.

Hubbell Incorporated plans to locate its new facility in the Jefferson Distribution Industrial Park, Jefferson Mayor Roy Plott said in a statement prepared by the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

"We are excited to open this new facility in Jefferson, Georgia," Kevin Poyck, President of Hubbell Lighting said. "The building and the location are a great strategic fit for our company."

The state announced Hubbell's decision Friday.

"They (Hubbell) will be able to tap into a talented workforce and business-friendly environment that will help them better serve a growing customer base. We will continue to work with our economic development partners in Jackson County to support the company in the future," Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Chris Carr said.

Hubbell Incorporated was founded in 1888 and now includes Hubbell Commercial / Industrial, Hubbell Lighting, Hubbell Construction / Energy and Hubbell Power Systems.

Hubbell's 2015 revenue totaled $3.4 billion.  It employs more than 16,000 people across the globe.

In Friday's announcement, state officials did not detail the timeline for the project or hiring.

The Hubbell news comes just over a week after Governor Nathan Deal's office announced a 600,000-square-foot Amazon fulfillment center in Jackson County.  The online retailer is expected to hire 500 full-time employees its Braselton-area operation.
