Posted 2:26PM on Wednesday 29th June 2016 ( 8 years ago )

A Buford woman is now accused of murdering her husband, an incident that was originally reported as a suicide in a 911 call she made to dispatchers the night of her husband's death.

Liubov Volkova, 35, called 911 shortly after 1:30 a.m. November 1, 2015, telling dispatchers that her husband, Jordan Whitson, 38, shot himself in the cheek, according to a press release.

Volkova met officers at the door of their Hampton Park Drive home that night, telling them where they could find Whitson.

The Gwinnett County Fire Department determined Whitson had died from his injuries.

His body was taken to the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office, and investigators continued gathering evidence, all of which led to Volkova's indictment on a murder charge.

Volkova was arrested June 24.
