The 60th reunion of the Gainesville High School Class of 1956 was held last weekend, beginning with a Friday night BBQ, catered by Johnny’s BBQ, at the home of one of the classmates and his wife, Benny and Jean Hawkins. There were 46 classmates/spouses, friends, or significant others in attendance.
For Saturday lunch, the group gathered at The Collegiate Grill – the only place left in town where classmates used to hang out,
The big finale was held at the Chattahoochee Country Club, where attendees were treated to 1950s music and DVDs of previous reunions, and more food. There was also a moment of silence in memory of the 40 classmates who have passed away over the years.
