Counseling workshops for veterans planned in Toccoa, Cornelia

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will conduct its monthly counseling workshops for veterans in Corneila on Wednesday, June 22, and in Toccoa on Thursday, June 23.  

The Wednesday event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Georgia Department of Labor’s Habersham Area Career Center, located at 215 Hodges St.  

The Thursday event will be held from 2-4 p.m. at the Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Toccoa Career Center, located at 37 Foreacre St.

The workshops will continue to offer a variety of counseling services, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), alcohol and drugs, bereavement, marital and family problems, along with assistance in applying for VA benefits.  GDOL staff will be on site to assist the veterans with resume critiquing, employment counseling and job referrals.

Veterans should bring valid identification, including military ID cards and driver’s licenses, along with their resumes.

In addition to hosting VA workshops, all GDOL career centers provide a employment services specifically for veterans. Career centers are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
