In public parks and at church services, Hall County residents took time Sunday to remember U.S. military members who offered the ultimate sacrifice in battle. There were also tributes to family members of those who lost loved ones, and there were salutes, as well, for soldiers who served in those wars and returned home.

Family members of those who perished in battle search for the names of their loved ones on the bricks at the war memorial at Rock Creek Park in Gainesville. 168 names are inscribed on bricks in the monument, representing Hall County servicemen who were killed in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Local veterans lined up at the end of a program at Veterans Park in Lula so people could thank them. It was part of Monday's city of Lula Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony.
