The Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the location and design of a new interchange on I-985 in South Hall which will include a new, four-lane connector road.

A spokesman for GDOT confirms approval of plans for the project - dated May 13 - which has generated a lot of opposition from people who live in the affected area.  (Click here to read earlier story.)

According to a GDOT legal ad, the new interchange, which has been in the works for years, would be located north of the Atlanta Highway bridge over 985 near Martin Road between Exits 12 and 16.

The project will include a four-lane divided road, with raised median, Martin Road Extension/New Industrial Connector Road, between H.F. Reed Industrial Parkway and Martin Road.

Drawings or maps or plans can be viewed at the GDOT office on Gillsville Highway.
