DAHLONEGA — Ty Maxwell is leaving Lumpkin County football after just two seasons.

The coach confirmed on Tuesday that he is stepping away from the Indians.

"I have resigned from my position as head football coach at Lumpkin County High School," Maxwell said. "I have appreciated the wonderful opportunity to coach here the past two seasons.  I wish the parents, fans, faculty, administration and most importantly the kids the very best moving forward and look forward to their future success."

Maxwell led Lumpkin to a 7-14 record, including a 5-6 mark in 2014 that included the program's first state playoff berth since 2003.

No further information was immediately available.
