A group of parents of Wauka Mountain Multiple Intelligences Academy wants to honor the school's principal, Jo Dinnan, who is leaving the school at the end of the current school year, by naming an on-campus road "Dinnan Drive."

Dinnan, a Hall County School System press release says, was instrumental in visualizing and implementing the current "car rider" route that goes around the ball fields and track. According to supporters of the initiative, before this was done, dating back to the opening of the school in the 1970s, the car rider line had parents sitting in their cars backed up onto Georgia Highway 52 trying to get onto the school grounds to either drop off their youngsters in the mornings or pick them up in the afternoons.

Dinnan solved that problem, the release states, and in the process, improved safety for parents and children. Additionally, she is credited with many other achievements at Wauka Mountain, including developing it as a Charter School - the Multiple Intelligence Academy, and naming the campus road in her honor will be part of her legacy.

The group plans to present the sign to Dinnan at Monday night's school board meeting.

Dinnan was recently named the new Director of Elementary Education for Hall County schools.
