Hall County fire crews tackle South Hall fires

Hall County Fire Services battled two large fires in South Hall County Monday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., crews extinguished a brush fire about two-to-three acres in size on Stoneridge Drive off Winder Highway. First responders found the fire was fast-moving and threatening several homes, accordingt to Fire Captain Zach Brackett.

"It was big enough to get up in the tops of the trees at one point," Brackett said. "The wind wasn't blowing too bad today and the humidity was fairly low so it was pretty fast moving."

Brackett said a transmission right of way that runs through the area also complicated matters.

Georgia Forestry was contacted for assistance, said Brackett.

An hour later, while the brush fire was still working,  crews were called to Deer Ridge Court in Flowery Branch. A 1,000-square-foot wood shop was fully involved in flames when first responders arrived.

"No injuries have been reported in either incident," Brackett said. "The cause of both fires is undetermined - they are under investigation."

Brackett also said the same personnel worked both incidents.
