Pair seriously hurt in truck wreck in Habersham

CLARKESVILLE — Two people were seriously injured when a rollback truck left the road and crashed near Clarkesville around 9:30 Saturday night.

Late Sunday night, the Georgia State Patrol released preliminary information about the single-vehicle wreck.

The truck was traveling south on Ga. 17, when it traveled onto the right shoulder and continued southbound on the shoulder for about 206 feet, said Trooper 1st Class Aaron Church. The front of the truck then struck a culvert, driveway and mailbox, then traveled another 42 feet after impact, coming to rest facing south off the road.

The driver, Daniel Justin Turner, 35, of Elberton, was seriously injured and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by ambulance.

The passenger, Julie Hollifield, 48, of Winder, was ejected during the wreck and suffered serious injuries. She also was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by ambulance.
