BAXLEY — Jackson County pounded out 12 hits en route to a 14-1, five inning win over Appling County Thursday in Game 3 of both teams Class AAA second round playoff series.
The Panthers (16-14-1) scored three runs in the second to grab the lead and exploded four 10 runs in the third and fourth innings to blow the game open.
Zane Corley got the win pitching a one-hitter in a comnplete-game effort.
Brett Bowen and Chris Griggs combined for hits and five RBI to lead the Panthers. Preston Giroux had three hits and three RBI and Tyler Sartain had three hits and scored three times for Jackson County.
Ryan Fogarty and Caleb Mathews each had one hit and two RBI and combined to score four times. Joel Ellis and Andrew Miller both had one hit and scored twice for the Panthers.
Jackson County lost the first game of the series 17-5 but rallied for a 5-4 win in Game 2 before Thursday's blowout victory.
The Panthers next will travel to Ringgold in the quarterfinals beginning on Tuesday.
