An Athens man has been charged after allegedly making threats on social media to an Athens-Clarke County police officer.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reports Joshua Jackson, 23, of Athens, was arrested Monday and charged with felony terroristic threats and misdemeanor dissemination of information relating to terroristic acts.

Jackson allegedly issued a threat on a posting attached to a television news story on social media about an officer-involved shooting in Athens that happened April 23, according to the GBI.

The case was investigated by both the GBI and the FBI, and those agencies were assisted by ACCPD officers in locating Jackson, who was taken into custody without incident.

This investigation is active and ongoing and, once completed, will be turned over to the Clarke County District Attorney’s Office for judicial review.
