VILLA RICA — The Gainesville boys tennis team knocked off Villa Rica in a thrilling 3-2 victory Tuesday in the first round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs.
Reagan Williams won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Jackson Fox took a 6-2, 6-0 victory at 2 singles. The No. 2 doubles team of Trevor Munn and Max Wuest won 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Red Elephants.
Gainesville, the No. 3 seed from Region 8-AAAAA, next will travel to Lagrange on Monday to take on the Region 1-AAAAA champs in the second round.
