North Georgia was full of family activities over the weekend.
The Clarkesville Main Street Program offered its Cruise-In and Music on Main event, with the parking lots of the Habersham County Administrative Building and Woods Furniture filled with antique cars, trucks and motorcycles.
On Saturday, Hartwell was host to the Lake Hartwell Antique and Classic Boat Festival. More than 50 boats and an equal number of antique automobiles filled the grounds of Hartwell Marina. Hundreds of visitors made their way around, inspecting vehicles and visiting vendors. Across town, the seven-acre Hart County Botanical Garden held its spring plant sale.
Downtown Bowman hosted the Bowman Spring Festival, with vendors, food offerings and entertainment.
In downtown Cornelia, competition continued in the Apple Blossom Barbecue Festival and in its associated rib-eating competition. 2014 and 2015 Rib King Phillip Kimbrell faced three challengers, ultimately giving up his title to 2016 Rib King Mike Owensby.
Also on Saturday, Prevent Child Abuse Habersham held its annual Pinwheels for Prevention Awareness Day at the Habersham Ninth Grade Academy in Demorest. The event featured children's activities, a kickball tournament, resources to help residents identify and report child abuse, and entertainment by the John King Band.
Saturday night, the Georgia Mountain Cruisers held the club's first cruise-in of 2016 on the grounds of the new Baldwin City Hall on 441 Bypass. The event drew some three dozen antique automobiles.
