AUGUSTA — University of North Georgia junior outfielder Stephanie Hartness has been named the Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Player of the Week the league office announced Monday. Hartness helped lead the No. 7 Nighthawks to a perfect 8-0 week that included a 6-0 mark in PBC play.
Hartness led the team at the plate in UNG's six conference games last week, hitting .571 with an incredible 1.095 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .609. Eight of her 13 hits on the week went for extra bases with five doubles and three home runs.
The Niceville, Florida native drove in 10 runs on the week and added six stolen bases. Hartness currently ranks second in the league in both batting average and runs batted in.
North Georgia returns to the friendly confines of Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium on Thursday for a doubleheader against Augusta. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
