AUGUSTA — University of North Georgia outfielder Joshua Profit has been named the Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Freshman of the Week the league office announced Monday. Profit led the Nighthawks at the plate in the team's four games last week that included a series victory over rival-Young Harris.
Profit had a career week at the plate while helping lead the Nighthawks to a 3-1 week, hitting .563 with a .611 on-base percentage and slugging .875, all team highs in the four-game span. The Warner Robins native had nine hits on the week, including a home run, and scored six runs. His pair of RBI doubles in Sunday's series clinching win over Young Harris were crucial in the UNG winning effort.
After the originally scheduled midweek series at West Florida was cancelled early Monday, head coach Tom Cantrell today announced that UNG will host Toccoa Falls in a single game Wednesday at 6 p.m.
