The Creative Expression Ministry at Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville will host the nationally touring quilt exhibit, Sacred Threads, for three weeks starting Wednesday.
The exhibition features 40 quilts with themes of joy, peace & brotherhood, inspiration, grief, healing, and spirituality. The quilts in the traveling show were chosen from a national juried exhibition of over 200 quilts held in 2015, sponsored by the Sacred Threads organization based in Fairfax, Virginia. The show does not emphasize any particular religion or theology but, according to a posting on the church's website, conveys the spirituality, healing and inspirational messages that transcend all people.
Grace Episcopal is one of approximately 20 locations across the country that will host this show. The quilts will be displayed in the Parish Hall and Greeting Area. Visitors are asked to park in the church lot at the corner of Brenau Ave and Boulevard and enter the exhibit through the St. Francis garden. The exhibition will run through May 4.
