The White County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the woman whose body was found at the base of Yonah Mountain Monday evening by hikers.
The victim was Virginia Grace Hill, 27, of Gainesville, said Capt. Scotty Scarbrough, investigator with WCSO on Wednesday.
Scarbrough said the investigation indicates the woman was alone on the mountain and the fall from the rock face was an accident. He said they are awaiting autopsy results to help confirm investigative results.
The incident was reported around 8:45 p.m. Monday.
