LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) A metro Atlanta police detective said in court that a Gwinnett County man fatally shot his stepdaughter during an argument over a delayed tax return.

Multiple news outlets report Gwinnett County Police Detective Shannon Kulnis said in court Tuesday that 42-year-old Byron Winborne and Kysha Johnson had been arguing over a delayed tax return when the woman was shot on March 24.

WXIA-TV quotes Kulnis as saying (http://on.11alive.com/1MbKpc6) that Winborne confessed to grabbing a gun and shooting Johnson as she walked away from him. Johnson was taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Winborne was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in the woman's death. Gwinnett County jail records say he's being held without bond.

It's unclear if Winborne has an attorney.
