CLEVELAND — Two White County boys escaped injury Monday night after they climbed up a tree and got scared.

Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt said the incident happened around 7:15 p.m. on Driskell Road south of Cleveland.

Pruitt said the youth, ages 6 and 10, had climbed 20-25 feet up a tree at their home and became frightened.

The boys began screaming, which alerted their parents who then called 9-1-1.

A fireman climbed up and helped one of the youth down, but the other was so high up the tree Pruitt said they used a ladder truck to reach him and help him down.

Pruitt said the parent will have the lower limbs on the tree cut to prevent the incident from happening again.

Firefighters used a ladder truck to reach one of two children stranded in a tree near Cleveland Monday night.
One of two stranded children was about 25 feet up in a tree Monday night. Cleveland Fire Department's ladder truck was utilized to reach the child.
