CARNESVILLE — Class AAA No. 2 Franklin County won the first battle in a three-game series with Dawson County for first place in Region 7-AAA.
The Lions rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat the Tigers 7-5 Tuesday.
Dawson County (12-3, 6-1 Region 7-AAA) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and extended its lead to 3-0 in the third. The Tigers added two more in the fourth for what looked to be a commanding lead.
But the Lions (17-0, 10-0) exploded for a six-run bottom of the fourth to grab the lead. They added a run in the sixth and then closed out the game with a scoreless seventh inning.
The two teams will close out their series on Friday with a doubleheader in Dawsonville.
