Once again, Family Ties-Gainesville plans to commemorate Prevent Child Abuse Month by "planting" pinwheels on the lawn of First Baptist Church on Green Street. Organizers have also planned a balloon release.
This year's event, called Seeds for Our Families, is set for Saturday, April 9 at 11 a.m.
In its 27-year history, Family Ties has served an average of 2,000 families each year, according to officials with the non-profit. The annual planting of the pinwheels and the balloon release represents the success of child abuse prevention programs in the area.
