Tennis: GHS teams edge Buford for sweep

GAINESVILLE — Both Gainesville tennis teams took narrow 3-2 wins over Buford Monday in non-region girls tennis action at Longwood Park.

The Lady Red Elephants (11-1) swept the singles while Buford swept the doubles.

For Gainesville, Katherine Wright took a tough 7-6, 2-6, 10-5 win at No. 1 singles. Haley Frankum won at No. 2 singles and Ali Waggoner won at No. 3 singles.

For Buford, Peyton Wolfe and Katie Quinn won 7-5, 6-1 over Sally Callahan and Madi Kiser at No. 1 doubles and Tania Wayne and Emma Place beat Paige Patterson and Paige Ackerman 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

For the boys, Gainesville got singles wins from Reagan Williams and Jeffery Kiser while Trevor Munn and Max Wuest won at doubles.

Gainesville will travel to Salem on Tuesday in a Region 8-AAAAA match.
